Delete your account

myHostels by RedWaves Technology (com.redwavestech.myhostel, previously com.redwavestech.myhostel.myhostel_app) · Updated 7 August 2026

You can delete your myHostels account and its data yourself, at any time, without asking us and without giving a reason. There are two routes: use the first if you still have the app installed, the second if you do not. If you only want part of your data removed and would rather keep your account, see Delete specific data below.

1 How to request deletion

In the app — immediate
  1. Open myHostels and sign in.
  2. Go to Profile.
  3. Tap Delete account.
  4. Confirm by tapping Delete.

Deletion runs straight away and cannot be undone. You do not need to contact us.

By email — if you have already uninstalled

Write to redwaves.techgh@gmail.com from the email address you signed in with, using the subject “Delete my myHostels account”.

We complete the deletion within 30 days and email you to confirm when it is done.

Signing in uses your Google account. Deleting your myHostels account removes your data from myHostels; it does not affect your Google account.

2 What deletion removes

Anything held only on your phone — including saved hostels and cached images — goes when you uninstall the app.

3 What is kept, and for how long

Two things survive deletion, and neither identifies you:

WhatWhy it staysRetention
Approved hostel catalogue entries — a corrected GPS pin or facility detail It describes a building, not a person. Other students rely on it. Your name is no longer attached to it. Kept as part of the hostel catalogue
Usage counts — advert and listing view counts Aggregate totals only, with your account identifier stripped out, so they can no longer be linked back to you. Up to 24 months, then deleted or aggregated

We do not store card details or bank details at all, so there is nothing of that kind to delete. If you signed in with an email address and password, the password is held only as a one-way cryptographic hash and is destroyed with the account.

4 Delete specific data, without closing your account

You do not have to delete your whole account to have something removed. Email redwaves.techgh@gmail.com from the address you signed in with, saying what you want removed. For example:

We complete these requests within 30 days and confirm by email. Your account stays open and you can carry on using myHostels. Where a request would remove something the catalogue depends on — an approved GPS pin or facility detail that other students rely on — we will detach your name from it rather than delete the entry, and we will tell you that is what we did.

You can also ask for a copy of your data, or for a correction, at the same address. Turning off notification or location permission in Android Settings stops those collections immediately, without deleting anything.
